AVCHD to Mov Lite App Reviews

It works well for AVCHD wrapping/conversions and because it’s free, I’m willing to forgive a lot of idiosyncrasies, thus 5 stars. There are some weirdnesses about the interface, like where you have to click to get the settings windows to disappear and the inability to change the size of the area of the window with the presets. I had a problem with audio using a couple of presets that I thought should work, so had to fiddle with settings a bit. In the end, I got it to work just fine. I tried trial versions of some other apps, none of which did the job as well as this one (once I figured out the audio issue). A huge thanks to the developer for offering this for free.

I really need this program. As much as I wanted it to work, it does nothing with any of my MTS files which come from a Sony RX-100. It just says “Error” with no details. Until this time I was using the program RewrapAVCHD, which was flawless, and whose only downside was lack of a batch mode. Sadly, Rewrap AVCHD wasn’t compatible with Mavericks, so I’m still searching.

I converted a 2TB external hard drive from PC to MAC. I have many videos that were copied to the PC that wouldnt play on the MAC. I was able to convert them, easily with no problem. I’m not a big tech guy, so some of the codes and things I really didn’t understand, but I could understand enough to make it work.

I found this app to download some avchd video I had not wanted to put directly into fcpx. It worked wonderfully, making the overall task quite easy.

I had recorded dozens of videos on my Panasonic camera and was not able to disentangle them from the file group nor could I view them on my computer. Extremely frustrating. I continued to take videos, hoping sometime later to be able to rectify this deficiency. When I found this program, not only is it easy to use, but it isolated the individual video clips permitting me to import them into PowerPoint for my classes. I delighted with the results.

Conversion works as expected, some presets have audio issues. UI itself could be improved . when there are lot of clippings in the AVCHD, it is difficult to select only few clips. A select all /deselect all option would help. right now I have to go through the entire list to unselect the ones that I dont need. not an issue when there are only few clips. Thanks once again for offering this free of cost! sree

It may take a few hours to transfer a bunch of AVCHD files to mov but it takes 20 gigs of files and transfers them into just a few gigs. Each file may only be a hundred megs when you choose to transfer to a smaller compressed file.

I was dreading the grueling process of buying software and converting my AVCHD files to .MOV, and then I found this program. What a relief. It did everything I was hoping it would, much faster than I was anticipating. To the creator: THANK YOU!!

It works well. It took a while to get the setting right, but eventually got it. It would be simple the next time around. It is a bit slower than I thought it would be.

This App didn’t work. I needed to convert .MTS video to any format that would play on my MacBook. This App started converting, but immediately produced a cryptic error followed by a cryptic question to "continue an error file" or some such thing, that is, the English was flawed. In the end, the App did not convert my video to something my MacBook could play, the messages were incomprehensible, and so was the long list of dozens of formats one could choose from.

ERROR ERROR ERROR ERROR ERROR not working. I just want something that will work without having to mess with a bunch of settings! Just going to have to use my windows PC. at least i know that will work the first time.

This is the only app that I have found that is both free and does AVCHD to ProRES - other apps will charge for the higher quality codecs. Great App! Thanks for much.

For novice iMac user, this works well. I needed to convert MTS files from a HD video cam to something the iMac would use. The 1080p converter for iPad works and I’m very happy with the app.

Working with AVCHD footage can be a hassle sometimes in FCPX. This really makes it a breeze. Just convert to ProRes HQ and call it a day.

Worked great! Used this to convert Canon AVCHD file bundle to individual MOV files. Used the Rewrap MOV AAC option after getting quck advice from Support on how to include sound. This program does exactly what it says it will do. Converted 15GB AVCHD bundle to 157 individual MOV files in just a couple minutes on MacBook Air. Just what I needed!

I’ve used this for a fue mounths and its always worked great! Definently recomend it.

PROS: It works mostly, and it is free. It is very annoying to use. It is unclear if the following deficiencies are present in the pro version, but looking at the screen shots it looks like it is the same. CONS: The design of the interface is very spare. after importing a file, there is a list with check boxes representing items to be converted. If you have 200+ clips in a file and you want to convert just one of them, say for testing your settings, you have to un-click 199 other boxes. There is no check/un-check all. Similarly, you cannot select a range of files and remove them from the list. You either have to select one at a time or clear the entire list. Also, if you have a large file to convert, it takes a very long time to draw thumbnails, during which time, you cannot remove things from the list. So if you loaded up the wrong file, you have to wait until it’s done or quit the app, which sometimes causes the computer to need a restart before you can use the app again. Rewrap to MOV fails with error 1. No explanations it just fails.

I use it to convert videos from a Sony A7 and a Panasonic G6 and it performs really well. This was I can work with iMovie easily. No issues with the app so far.
